Mr.
Ramesh Prasad Dahal, son of Mr. Govinda Prasad Dahal was born on 28/1/2026
(1969) at Ramkot, Nepal and now he lives in Ghathatar, with his wife and
two sons. A highly skilled person on technical sector of engineering is
a well contributor to the development of science and technology for the
Blinds to the country (Nepal) through his knowledge and ability despite
his physical disability (blind). He has made lots of inventions to his
credits like Vacuum Pump, Ladder Ramp, Earthquake Indicator, Shoe Cleaner,
Wheat Thresher, Mobile Toilet, R.P.D System, Money Scale, Drawing Board,
Incinerator, Shaking Bed, Air Pressure Engine, Air Pollution Controller
Fan and Sensitive Window Closure.
Mr Dahal was not blind by birth. The problem with his eyesight began when
he was studying in Intermediate of Science. Before facing the problem,
he worked as a Khardar (a non gazette officer) at Dept. of Archeology.
Then he worked as a teacher in Cageshowri Boarding School in Jorpati.
During that time his eye problem was growing toward losing his eyesight
and had to leave his job. He then started the retail shop to use his time.
Because of the problem the frustration was growing which further led him
to depression. But that was not the end of the road for him, his will
power made him come through this difficult phase of his life. His inner
strength lifted him to do something for the people facing the similar
disabilities. He then joined as a Secretary of Nepal Association of Blind
in 2053 B.S.
One of the incidents inspiring him to invent things are that one day he
was trying to hold someone's hand to cross the road at Bhadrakali but
by mistake his hand landed to that person’s pocket and the man shouted
at him thinking he was trying to pick pocket. After that incident, he
felt he had to be independent and came to invent the traffic light indicator
for the blind. He made the traffic light indicator by funding his own
money (profit from his shop). This is just one example of his noble deeds.
Due to blindness he had to leave his shop in 2060 B.S. But he is continuing
to give effort to his creations. To do his creative works, he also took
the patent right from ministry of Industry for his inventions. But lack
of financial support has placed his ideas and creations limited to sketch.
He has achieved many awards and certificate of appreciation from various
organizations for his innovative and creative works. As per his words
“he wants to continue serving the nation despite his physical disability
and create more useful inventions for the disabled people. If found a
financial support he also wants to make all his ideas brought into reality.”
Mr. Dahal a highly skilled person has become an example of inspiration
to our society and the whole nation.
